I am afraid for Obama. I think he'll likely make a supah fine president... but I also think some white supremacist jackass is going to attempt to assassinate him.
I've stayed out of US politics since leaving the country. When I realised that the conservatives in Canada are more liberal than the US democrats, I just gave up.
roxy_fondue knows more about the current presidential race than I do and she's a native canadian. I just don't care anymore. It's all so awful there that I'd rather bury my head in the sand and focus on things that matter to me -- things I can do something about, like lowering my per-hour kilowatt usage. Or something.
I asked myself awhile back who Americans would pick for their president: a black man or a white woman. I went with the man, not because it would be my personal choice -- I just want the right person for the job -- I just think Americans aren't ready for a woman, yet.
Oh, and on the topic of finding the right person for the job, I get so grotesquely disgusted when I hear people pulling for Hillary because she's a woman. Um, what? What about qualifications? What about platform? What about things that matter? Because chromosomal makeup is not what a presidential election should be about, FFS. Gah.
And that's what I have to say about all that.
