[parenting] teaching / punishing
A comment mightydoll made in my previous journal entry has spurred me to write this entry. Her comment:
Parents love unconditionally, and yet need to punish sometimes. It would be neglectful not to teach children the rules they need to know in order to function in our society.
My question:
Why do we think it is necessary to punish children in order to teach them how to function in our society?
