computer doom

Oct 02, 2007 14:16

today started out grand:

A started thrashing at 3am due to working up to his morning poo.
Tried to poo him at 5:30; he screamed.
Tried again at 7:30; he screamed, but at least he peed.
Tried AGAIN at 9:30 and was finally successful. Plus, no screams ANd no more thrashing. Yay. I even got smiles! That mostly makes up for the lack of restful sleep due to thrashing baby.

I got dressed and headed into the office to turn on my computer. After a few minutes, I noted it hadn't actually got to the login screen, and had, in fact, cycled through the start-up multiple times.

This does not please me.

I've been bitching LOTS lately about needing a new computer, but that I would make do with this one until such a time presents itself. My computer pulling this crap on me was... unexpected. And unfortunate. And untimely. And probably lots more un- words.

So I don't know what needs to be done. When a car doesn't start all the way, it's usually the battery. What's the battery equivalent (in this instance) to a computer? Is it the motherboard that is fritzing? Is it something else? I can get to the menu when you press F8 during the startup, but seeing as I'm not a geek at the best of times, let alone when I'm braindead from lack of sleep and lack of food, and carrying a 12lb wiggly baby, I wasn't able to figure out what needed to be done.

Any ideas?

computer issues, doom, woe
