I really like 7_days' prompts this time around. *dies* And I really don't want to do my homework.
Title: Waiting Up
Prompt: What good am I? -
7_daysPairing: Yagyuu/Niou
Wordcount: 300
Disclaimer: Not mine
When they had first moved into a new apartment together, Yagyuu had waited for Niou to get home before he went to bed. He had made sure that Niou had eaten, that he wasn't doing something stupid, that even if he was, he was at least still in one piece. Niou used to laugh at him for being stupid. He could take care of himself, Niou had promised.
Yagyuu didn't wait up anymore, not because he believed Niou's lies but because he couldn't bear to hear them anymore. At least, that was the theory. Every night, he would finish his work, which he brought home with him when the office would let him, wash up, and curl up under the covers. With a sigh, he would turn off the light.
Then he would tell himself, very sternly, to go to sleep. If Niou wasn't home by then, he wouldn't be home for a good four hours or so and when he did get home he would stink of alcohol and probably wouldn't even make it to bed anyways. It wasn't Yagyuu's place to bother him about how he chose to live; Niou didn't bother Yagyuu about the acceptance letter to Tokyo University's medical school that was still tucked into their leftmost kitchen cabinet, Yagyuu shouldn't bother Niou about what he did after work.
So he didn't.
And when Niou stumbled home at three in the morning, Yagyuu would lie quietly until he heard Niou collapse on the couch. Then he would get up and grab a blanket. Niou would be asleep by the time he got out of their room-Yagyuu was always amazed that he managed to get home at all. He would carefully tuck the blanket around Niou, then kiss him goodnight.
Niou would be gone by morning.
