Had the strangest experience in math class today. We started out graphing the sound waves of tuning forks and calculating the frequency of the pitch we got. My little group has three people so one took the calculator, one took the little microphone, and I played with the tuning fork. Apparently my rubber-soled shoes are musically incline, because the graph we got on our first try read a frequency of 500 hz, on a fork that's perfectly tuned to 512 hz. Not bad; closer than anyone else came, at least. :)

Then came the intersting part: we were given measuring cups and bottles of water. The assignment? Blow on the water bottles, adding and subtracting water until we produce a note that gives us the same frequency as the tuning fork - or as close as we could get. I guess my sporadic flute playing paid off; we were able to get a frequency of 500 on a plastic water bottle. Impressed the professors, it did. :) So Dr Warren took my bottle and traded it with another group whose bottle had refused to make a sound the whole hour -- and I tuned that one too. Dr. Warren wants to rent me out to the physics department. Just call the Water Bottle Whisperer...

Feeling a little queasy from lunch; maybe I ate too much? Ick. I'd like to curl up in a little ball somwhere and read. I feel so very small and fragile today, for some reason...like I should hide under a table or something before someone steps on me...
