100 things I am grateful for right now

Oct 19, 2011 20:11

Because some days, I need to remind myself that my I have a lot to be happy about. So, I'm challenging myself to find a full hundred things I am thankful for at the moment.

1. I have a loving family.
2. My sister is the awesomest sister ever.
3. My parents support and encourage me to try new things that interest me.
4. I have a boyfriend who reminds me I'm beautiful the way I am.
5. My awesome friends will let me crash in their dorms if I need to.
6. An awesome friend got the Hetalia poster at Otakon and gave it to me.
7. The people I've met on LJ through Hetalia fandom are seriously cool.
8. They also write awesome fanfic.
9. I have a nice place to live.
10. I have enough to eat.
11. My summer job paid decently, so I can treat myself to things on occasion.
12. My parents are paying my tuition. (But I still wish my tuition wasn't so freakin' high.)
13. My college provides financial aid.
14. I have a job here.
15. The biology professor whose lab I work in is seriously awesome.
16. The people who work in that lab are awesome too.
17. I have the option of studying abroad.
18. My parents fully support my intentions of studying abroad.
19. I've started actually going to clubs and activities here, and they've turned out to be fun.
20. I've finally actually made a new (close) friend, with similar interests and such.
21. My roommate for this year is from a much closer background to mine, so we're actually able to talk to each other.
22. My workload is manageable. (Or would be, if I stopped procrastinating so much.)
23. When I feel like procrastinating, there is always the Hetalia kink meme.
24. When I get bored with that, there is always photoshop to fool around with.
25. I'm getting a new camera once I finally get around to researching what model to get.
26. Fooling around in photoshop has taught me a lot about designing graphics.
27. There are lots of helpful tutorials online that I can use to learn more about designing stuff.
28. Same for touching up photos.
29. Some of my crappiest photos can be made somewhat bearable by using photoshop.
30. I am sound of mind (to the best of my knowledge, anyway xD ) and body.
31. I have internet access.
32. When I run out of other ways to procrastinate, there are games that actually run on macs.
33. For games that don't run on macs, my friends got me a (legal) copy of windows 7 at a lan party so I can dual boot.
34. Funimation puts all their anime on youtube for even more procrastination fodder.
35. I have had the opportunity to visit China, Mexico, and Canada.
36. There are a bajillion other schools in the area that are pretty chill about cross-registration if my college doesn't offer something.
37. My boyfriend and friends going to university in my home state made my visit during the long weekend quite amazing.
38. Plane tickets between here and home are relatively cheap.
39. The flight is also relatively short.
40. As a result, visiting home is easy.
41. Friends coming up to visit is also easy enough to occur once in a while.
42. For all that we're spread out all over the country, this area probably has the second highest density of my friends from high school.
43. My sister is so cool I can brag about the things she's done.
44. My dorm wall has pretty art now, which I've added to in recent days.
45. Writing for fun is, well, fun!
46. When people drag me on adventures (or I force myself to tag along rather than being lazy) they turn out to be decently fun.
47. My PE class (ping pong) turned out to be worthwhile after all. I now know how to spin the ball.
48. That new anchor point for when I'm aiming my bow may be tiring as heck, but now I have way more power in each shot.
49. Said anchor point will probably also help me get more upper body strength.
50. Current cool adventures I partake in (which will remain ambiguous for a reason) will require said upper body strength.
51. When I'm too weak to do certain steps for the adventures, the other people are more than willing to lend me their strength.
52. My D&D group decided to go with the least serious race/class combos. I can't wait for our campaign to start--it'll be great.
53. My friend and I came up with an awesome backstory for our two D&D characters, who will be vitriolic best buds.
54. The stuff I ordered online arrived! (It's sad how excited I get when packages arrive for me.)
55. The side of campus I live on is great, even if it's far from the student center.
56. Sure, the dorms on the other side are the "social" dorms, but the complex I live in is super close to the science center, the town, and the health center.
57. It also has a dining hall right in the basement, meaning I don't have to go out for food when the weather is really bad.
58. Proximity to science center and dining hall in basement combined means I don't have to get up more than 15 minutes before class in the mornings.
59. Speaking of being close to the town, a Pinkberry opened nearby! No more having to ride the bus into Boston for froyo!
60. Or if I don't feel like walking all the way to Pinkberry, there's a J.P. Lick's closer by.
61. Assassin's Creed Brotherhood was on sale for 70% off on Amazon the other day! And it's turning out to be pretty fun.
62. Fall break was a very nice four-day weekend. Especially because I got to visit my boyfriend and friends.
63. The wall art I ordered arrived, so now my wall is even spiffier than before.
64. Tea with honey is a pretty effective cough remedy. And much more delicious than cough medicine.
65. Chocolate is delicious.
66. I was able to bring my book of Hans Christian Andersen fairy tales to college with me. (Unfortunately it was this or the volume of Grimms' tales. Fortunately I have most of the Grimms' ones memorized.)
67. I got a Sparknotes Shakespeare companion volume for quizbowl studying, and brought it with me. It's turning out quite handy for my Shakespeare class.
68. Genetics lab is every bit as intense as people say it is, but the course is much less so, since I've learned a lot of it already in high school.
69. Speaking of high school, my high school was pretty freakin' good. In that I know or have been exposed to so much more than most other students my grade here.
70. Nail polish is so much fun to use, and several people have complimented me on my nails.
71. The food in the dining halls here has been surprisingly good recently.
72. My goal since last year of obtaining a swiss army knife and a lighter has now been fulfilled.
73. I've been shooting pretty well lately at archery club.
74. This new anchor point took me much less time to adjust to than I expected.
75. It also requires less arm strength than I thought it would.
76. My swiss army knife was useful the same day I got it (thereby alleviating any guilt I felt for spending the money on buying it).
77. There are videos online demonstrating how to use a lighter.
78. Skin doesn't burn easily, so my first few attempts at learning how to use the lighter did not result in injuring myself.
79. Did I mention yet my sister was awesome? She helped me navigate around Boston at night. She was in Maryland.
80. Shakespeare is so much more fun to read when you're old enough to actually understand more of the subtleties.
81. It's also nice when there's someone willing to point out the subtleties to you.
82. Because I'm actually good at loading gels, today's lab took shorter than it could have.
83. The D&D dice I ordered look nice in real life as well as online.
84. The apples in the dining hall today were actually quite good.
85. My composition for computer music was actually kind of decent!
86. Oranges don't go bad very easily, so the one I've been keeping on my desk is still fine.
87. I took a 4-hour nap today, and gods it felt nice. Even if that means I didn't finish my genetics lab homework on time.
88. The hazelnut chocolate I bought is delicious.
89. Aside from the genetics lab homework I still haven't finished, I have very little work for tonight.
90. My upcoming computer networks exam is open-book and open-note.
91. World Hetalia Day is this weekend!
92. D&D campaign starts this weekend!
93. The anime club is getting dimsum next weekend. It's been way too long since I've had dimsum.
94. I can start going to quizbowl at MIT tomorrow night, now that my PE class is over.
95. I finally got my invitation to AO3!
96. I finally uploaded stories to AO3!
97. I've revamped my dA so that it's actually kind of classy now!
98. My boyfriend is visiting in 2 weeks.
99. My first-year plant is proving to be surprisingly resilient. It's come back from the brink of death several times now.
100. I am now done with this list.

Whew, that only took me like, three days to write. But now I have proof that there is much in my life I can be happy about.
