*Gasp!* You need to finish series three, woman! I mean, it does have some of the worst episodes in all of New Who *coughDaleksinManhattancough* but it also has some of the best, like 'Family of Blood' and 'Blink.'
Tell me you've seen 'Blink.' God, that was a bundle of awesome. *hugs Steven Moffat*
Anyhoo...
I liked Martha for about three episodes. Then I began to dislike her with a passion that knows no end.
It wasn't a shipper thing- I wanted to like her. I wanted her to help the Doctor heal after losing Rose. Sadly, my hopes were dashed against the rocks of unrequited crushing. It seemed that the entire focus of her character was on her fawning over the Doctor. She never really developed into a 'person.' I mean, Rose... I'd know Rose's character anywhere. It was whole and distinct. Martha's was... not. It's like someone at the BBC sat down with a list of 'desireable traits' and just checked them off one by one. "Let's see... Med student. Check. Pretty. Check. Independent. Check. Smart. Check."
That sort of thing makes me queasy. There's nothing worse than a character that is never allowed to breathe. And you're right. I never saw her act like any of the med student's I've come in contact with. Hm.
(I actually think you're brilliant on the character front. I've just got a fixation. XD )
Hee. Oh, Discworld. I've only read two of the books in the series, but hopefully I'll soon be able to get my grubby paws on more...
