Green Lantern's light

Well, I saw Green Lantern with Cassity this evening.

I must admit I was hesitant about this movie, due to the rubbish press it's gotten, but on the whole, I enjoyed it for the most part. The villainous scientist guy could've been a bit more villainous-feeling; he didn't feel quite as Doom On You as I thought he could be. And admittedly, there were a few too many cheesy moments where Hal and Carol are shot stupidly close-up talking about emotional problems, and occassionally the organisation of events shown was a bit mishmashy and could've been lain out better. But the intentionally humorous moments were amusing, and the CGI of Oa and the Corp were fantastic to watch, and I really enjoyed the fight scenes where we got to see the Lanterns in action. And If you're a Lantern fan, like I am, you'll probably laugh at some of the antics that may seem a bit more cheesy knowing the background behind things.

Overall, I would call this movie....Daredevil or Green Hornet-level theatrics. It was worth seeing at least once, and the CGI landscapes, especially if you prefer things in 3D, means you'll probably want to catch it in a cheap theatre instead of waiting for DVD.

I will say I am pleased there is talk of a sequel, as it gives them a chance to try again and learn from their mistakes in this first film.

Of course, now that I've seen Green Lantern, I can go find all the comics, animated appearances, and fanfiction I want and immerse myself in "better-quality" Lantern fandom. X3 Which is half the fun of it all, really.

~And now that you've been exposed to the DC universe of movies, you'll have to go watch all the Superman films.~
Er, no. I do not feel I need to add the Man of Steel to my brain's fandom shelves. I have enough problems. I am very excited, however, that they're making a Green Lantern animated series, as I have been wishing for one for some time.
