Alright, so, in Supernatural, we've seen angels play demi-gods, and writers revealed as prophets, and our boys going from hunters to Apocalyptic bookends to Vessels. And then we have the end of Swan Song, where Chuck vanishes into thin air, and the fan-assumption that this means Chuck was God all along.
And I just watched The Monster at the End of This Book on my DVR, which had me squealing a bit if I took my assumptions about Chuck and applied them, and I had an IDEA.
Zachariah shows up at the end of Monster, and threatens Chuck. And I started wondering, if Chuck is God, why is he playing prophet here? And then, for some reason, I thought of Calypso in PotC, bound in human form. And I gasped, and thought, "What if a group of angels, faction-led by Zach, Uriel, and Raphael, found a way to bind God in a human body long ago, unbeknownst to the others? And then spread the word that God had left and/or died? So Raph keeps watch over Chuck/God as the archangel on his shoulder. And the only reason he hasn't stepped in to stop things is because until his bodyguards are taken out, Chuck/God is stuck where he is, unable to interfere."
This makes a wonderful amount of sense to me. With Raph on guard duty, Chuck can't stop him from destroying Cas in Lucifer Rising, but he can exercise a small amount of power to revive him. When Zach sends Dean to the future and Dean meets Chuck at the camp, Zach and his cronies are still alive and therefore Chuck is still trapped. But then they kill Zach off, and Michael and Lucifer are trapped in Hell, and Castiel is ressurected as an Archangel. So what if he discovered what Zack and company had done, and frees Chuck/God from his bonds?
I think this would be an EXCELLENT plot idea and I wish I could write it with the wealth it deserves.
