Alright, so, without being spoilery, I will attempt to sum my feelings for Swan Song up.
First: The one part of this episode I actually squeed over was not the fight, nor the ending, nor the revelations, but Castiel asleep in the backseat of Dean's car. Adorable Misha is DAMN ADORABLE.
It was not the most uber!exciting episode. It almost made me cry, with the photo montages. It made me smile, with the Impala flashbacks. I did not expect what to happen would happen, although I had read the spoiler about Chuck before I watched it, which lessened the impact of it but it still made me happy. IF the show were suddenly canceled and did not actually air Season 6, I would be satisfied and happy with how things ended. Because to me, the rewards given to each character were endings I believe are best for them.
Dean finally getting a happy life, with a wife and son, makes me so happy. Bobby being able to walk, also happy, although I'm a little worried about that Rugaru comment. Did Chuck mean to imply that the reason Dean and Bobby don't talk for a long while is because Bobby dies? I hope not. Castiel is an angel again, and PROMOTED to Head Honcho, go him! And he's retained his human knowledge, which is a Very Good Thing. The leader of the angels will be able to give them proper senses of humor and sympathy for we mud monkeys. I hope we see, if not a lot, then a fair amount more than one or three cameos in S6. And Sam has somehow gotten out of Lucifer's trap. Hm, how'd that occur? Is he still Lucifer, or Sam himself? And of course, Chuck, HAHAHAHAHAHA. Y'know, knowing Kripke's sense of humor, we totally should have seen that coming. I mean, how many times have we as a fandom thought, "if there is a God, he must write fanfiction." Or maybe that's just me. But I thought it was inspired.
Several things I wish I'd seen in this episode. First, where'd Crowley go? Last we saw him in Two Minutes To Midnight, he was helping them gear up and find Death and all. Did they leave him behind in Chicago? My guess: he probably scarpered off to hide in Aziraphale's bookstore for the duration, with a healthy supply of miracled booze and deep dish pizza. Second thing I wish was to have seen maybe where Mary and John went. Although that's not really a top priority for me. The episode worked. Lets leave it at that.
With the episode ending as it has, I have to wonder how Sera Gamble will bring us season 6. What will be the underlying story arc? Will the angels feature prominently? Will we see the final destinations of Mary and John, or are they lost forever to the ether? Will God return to heaven? Is Chuck the Prophet in fact God, or did he just vanish into nothingness, his prophetic duties complete? Will we see Chuck-as-possibly-God again? Will we see Chuck-as-Prophet again? The boys don't know that he disappeared into thin air. They don't know he might be God. And if he was God, why was he at the base camp when Zach knocked Dean into the future? Will we see Crowley again? If Lucifer and Michael are busy duking it out behind bars, will Sam becomes leader of Hell, as Castiel has become leader of Heaven? Will Crowley be his right-hand demon? What of all the demi-gods and gods of other religions out there, the ones who survived or did not attend Lucifer's massacre? Will Gabriel be resurrected, or did he never die in the first place, and will we see him again? If we do, will the boys hug him or stab him?
So many questions to be answered...with Fanfic!
Its now 12:30 so I should probably go to bed or something.
