Day 11, right? And 12. Damn.

Alright, so for this second double-post, I have...well, not much new news.

I got a DC sweatshirt that's nice and warm, which is good because the temperature took a nosedive today. It's very soft and gray and blue.

Yesterday I went back to NASM and perused the gift shop. I now have the entirety of two star systems in a tiny little bag.

...in marble form, that is. XD

See, I've started writing the guide to the LoSa system, for the Thesa Chronicles. It's all being kept in my nice green folder, which I almost LOST yesterday; I left it at dad's desk and forgot, and was lucky it was there when I returned this morning. Anyways, chapter 1 details the orbits and planets of the Lo and Sa stars. I found a marble bin in the basement of the museum, and for $6, I filled a small green bag with 2 suns and 10 planets. I plan to do something with them; perhaps mount them in a base of some kind and paint a galaxyscape around them, hang them on my wall.

Anyways, after I got my marbles, I went and saw the Stars Tonight planetarium show. Instead of the old fashioned star ball thing, they used a digital screen display to put the constellations and stars and planets and stuff on the dome overhead. And despite this, it was STILL the same sort of quality I could get by visiting the planetarium at RCC. Blurry and fuzzy and difficult to see. I was disappointed by that. But, it was still cool.

Today was work, same old same old. Helped pack up some boxes for a trip to Tulsa, but I didn't get anything written for ToB. However I did reignite my love for the good ship Pingetti through fanart. Most fanfiction sites are blocked on the office computers. *sigh* Much love for the two grubby guys.

Only now I have a craving to watch World's End. Bah.

There is nothing to watch on TV. Is it Monday yet? I crave Big Bang Theory and My Own Worst Enemy.

Oh, that reminds me.

I've started watching Life on Mars: New York City (as it seems to be called now by some circles of fandom, which I think is a good idea.) with Ameri-goggles. I've managed to work my brain into it's neutral state. NYC is not Manchester. America is not England, and the culture cannot be compared to the other. Such is the way, and if I am to view this series without bias, I must remember these facts.

LoM was rife with undertones of fan-seen slash, or at least heavy smarm. There was heavy focus on Sam/Annie, canon wise, and Chris was a bigger focus as well, but I never really noticed Ray. But Gene was hard hitting, and the whole show revolved around the premise that (apparently) the world was a tumor in Sam's brain. (right?)

It does seem that they're at least attempting to distance themselves from the original show. NYC doesn't have the distraction of the test card girl, but it seems the missing hole is being filled by the next-door hippie girl who bakes Sam weed-flavored lasana. There is no, or at least is less of, a Sam/Annie undertone. Chris may be faded into the background somewhat, but I actually like Ray here. (maybe it's the waistcoats he was wearing. Yum.) Gene isn't an intimidating giant of a DCI, but they're not trying to make Harvey into this image. Instead he's the tough new york PD, experienced. He's more of a role model, and with Sam more of an angry-crazy than a tripping-crazy, it turns the dynamic between them into a buddy-cop feel.

On the subject of Sam's mental issues, too, there's a definite difference. He sees things like toy Mars Rovers. We hardly heard the whoosh-beep of hospital equipment. There seems to be more of a fog over the issue, which makes me wonder if they're using the same Coma angle, or if it's something entirely different.

I think this show is showing promise, and If Nothing Else, I hope it stays for a full season, if not picked up for another. And remember, the American show season tends to be longer than the British, so it's possible they'll have some brand new ideas before the end.

....anyhoo, it's 11pm. Guess I better shower and get to bed. Couch. Whatever.

....oh, PS. Two new crack images for you to enjoy.

Idea 1: Pushing Daisies/Mash. Emerson got Ned's alias Father Mulcahy from an old buddy's war stories, not a TV show. But what if the REAL Father Mulcahy was at the nunnery, for a visit? (This is just an excuse to have Ned and Mulcahy come face to face and say "Oh dear." at the same time. BTW, Ned is SO Mulcahy 2.0. X3 Much love to them.)

Idea 2: (And I really have no excuse for this, except that PotC slash fanart damages brain cells) Jack Sparrow meets Captain Hook, and upon learning of his crocodile fixation, his unhealthy obsession with flying prepubescent children, and his first mate's obvious crushing, informs him "You need to find yourself a girl, mate."

Oh yeah. X3

plot idea, washington bound, shows: life on mars
