Got Coat?

Jun 20, 2007 02:46

Winter is just around the corner and that means cold days and even colder nights and for some of us that is no problem, that's what we have heating for, yet for those living on the streets it's a tough time of year. (Approximately 2618 children under the age of 12 years with parents will be homeless in Victoria on any given night, 4663 children aged 12-18 years without a parent and 2401 aged 19 to 24 years. Statistics care of the Aust. Bureau of Statistics.)

So if you would like to help please make an effort to go through your closet and grab that old winter coat - men's, women's or children's - that is hanging there (some of us may even have 2 or 3 coats among the family) and donate it to the OFF YOUR BACK appeal so that it can be given to someone who needs it.

The Arts Centre is proud to support a group of six like-minded individuals bound not by religion or profit but who are driven to help others at this time of year. We aim to collect the coats from June 1 and pass them on to the St Kilda Crisis Centre who will deliver them dry-cleaned within 48 hours on to the streets where they are needed most.

So please drop your coat off into our donation bin in the Arts Centre Car Park Foyer.
