The things Facebook makes me think of. Well, not Facebook, but Roland, which is not to say that he is any less guilty. In any case, the question came up: with which moral code do you most identify? Now, you may think that this is completely easy. You're wrong (but I'll consider handing out prizes in spite of this). Roland mentioned that he was monastic, what with the temperence and contemplative lifestyle. His brother is more chivalric, with the honor and respect towards women(which I greatly appreciate). I did a little bit of looking around, but it's actually really difficult to find neatly laid out lists with the tenants of every code of behavior. So, throwing up my hand, I just decided to make my own. The below is the code of the Abalone Knights, from whom you'll be hearing more in the future, once I start to write about them.
"Be fearless in the face of danger;
Safeguardt he helpless, and defend the weak..
Respect all people, regardless of rank or station.
Keep temperance in your mind, but justice in your heart.
Speak only the truth, even if it leads to your harm,
Your integrity is the measure of your soul.
Have the serenity to accept the things you cannot change,
The courage to change the things you can,
And the wisdom to know the difference between the two.
Uphold this law in word and deed until your dying breath.
Live your life to the fullest, and have no fear of death."
You might not win, and it could all be in vain, but that's not the point. If you see injustice and have the power to change it, then it is your duty to do so, regardless. It's not the outcome; it's how you fight the battle that makes the difference.
