Calum, Bridgette, and I...

Calum is such a big boy, so independant. He's been making his breakfast (toast/cereal/yesterday's cheese sandwich) just about every morning. Every morning he takes his shower when he gets up. This morning he even made his own lunch. I can't express how proud and grateful I am to/for him. The sad thing is that he can't get past arguing or lying with/to us; for instance - he'll say he's brushed his teeth (yet he was gone for 30 seconds) and when we ask him to do it again (not question him, just tell him to do it again), he'll start to argue that he has brushed his teeth. He takes those little bottles of water to school, and we ask him to bring them back so we can refill them from our cooler, yesterday he said that he'd dropped the bottle and someone had thrown it in the trash, yet, when he went into his school bag for his homework, his bottle was there - he said he'd forgotten it was there, "But you lied about someone throwing it in the trash then..." He didn't really get it. Such are the joys of 6-7 yr olds :)

Bridgette discovered her thumb last night. She wasn't particularly interested in the bottle and we've been trying not to use a pacifier (she isn't particularly interested in them herself, only once and then she was _done_ with it after a few minutes in which she calmed down), but she came across her fingers (which is pretty funny to watch her stick an index or middle finger in her mouth and suck on it - along with the resulting slurpy sounds), then her thumb! And that heck-of-a-soothed her.

I had my 2 week post incision appt yesterday the doctor is thrilled with me; all along she's raved at how well I've done with such a hard pregnancy. My ankle edema is all gone (its nice to see skinny ankles again) and my tummy edema is vanishing too - she's happy with how the incision is looking and took off the steri-strips that were holding the external part of me together. She wants me to use hydrogen peroxide on it for a while twice a day. I can drive again! Of course, my first trip was to Walgreen's to pick up a prescription for blood pressure medication since my bp was 174/87 then 16-something/94. It doesn't surprise me, since I've had a horrific headache for about a week now - behind my eyes/eyestrain style.
