Bingo: The Something Borrowed Edition

Aug 13, 2010 22:20

So, for the latest challenge at scifiland , we were given a bingo card with nine prompts and were allowed to do a different type of media for each one. I decided to do icons and some meta for Star Wars: The Clone Wars. I'm really new to icon making, so any con-crit is welcome!

BFFs - C-3PO and R2-D2

Seriously, these two exemplify being BBFs. Six movies, plus the EU... I wouldn't be surprised to find them chilling together in the Legacy-era comic books. Over the course of the series, they've known each other for over 50 years, and as a fan, this leads to an almost constant association. During the original trilogy, their bickering (or at least what we heard of it from Threepio's point of view) served as a much-needed source of comic relief. Even though we don't get to see them together that often in the Clone Wars series, the director Dave Filoni made it a priority to get some buddy time in the episode "Destroy Malevolence" as a tribute to the best heterosexual life-partnership in sci-fi history.

Colors - Numa and Boil

This episode with Numa, the Twi'lek girl, was the first one that came to mind with this prompt, since she was a bright spot of color in an otherwise dull background.

Social Networking - Palpatine Talking to the Jedi Council

This one was hard, but I think having facetime with the Jedi works.

Minor Character - Bail Organa

BAIL ORGANA! I love this man sfm, it's not funny. Suave, but totally badass. It doesn't hurt that in the movies, he's played by Jimmy Smits, who I love. He gets the least amount of screen time compared to the other major players in the SW universe, but he has one of the most important roles - hiding Princess Leia in plain sight, while also getting the fledgling Rebel Alliance off the ground. When he first got the role in Attack of the Clones, Jimmy Smits said he didn't know anything about this character, but when he mentioned it to a friend, the friend started spouting off facts about Bail Organa. That's how I feel about him: underrated, but totally awesome.

Someone You Hated, but Now Love - Ahsoka Tano

So, there's nobody in Clone Wars that I actually hate (other than Satine, but I don't think I'll ever like her), but I was "meh" on Ahsoka at first, but now I really love her. During the movie, she was a little too much of a Scrappy for me, but as the series has gone on, I've grown to really like her as a character. Anakin really does need somebody to bug him and challenge him the way that he challenged Obi-Wan back when he was a Padawan.

Something Old - Yoda

He's 900+ years old. Enough said.

A Ship - Asajj Ventress/Obi-Wan Kenobi

Seriously. Listening to these two talk to each other, it's like the writers want us to ship them. They call each other "My dear," everything they say to each other sounds like an innuendo, and I swear every time Ventress removes her skirt so that she can fight, Obi-Wan is checking out her ass. Even before this series started, I was kinda shipping them from what I had read in the EU novels and the Dark Horse comics, but this series really cemented my love of Ventrobi (yes, they have a ship name).

Favorite Character - Obi-Wan Kenobi

Was there really any question? Also, I love this scene. It's so adorable.

Your Choice - The Mandalorians

Basically, the most badass guys in the galaxy. No powers, and still able to take down a Jedi. Even though I hated what they did with the Mandalorian people in the series (and let's not even get me started on the travesty that is Satine), these warriors that they showed were pretty amazing, so that kinda made up for it. I also love that the guy who voiced the lead Mandalorian warrior and the leader of the Death Watch is the director of Iron Man. All roads really do lead to Star Wars.
