Not the best photo but it is makeup time again.
I did this look for the fancy Korean dinner I went to with Meredith, Amanda, Brian and Jeremy last night. It was tons of fun. None of us could read the menu but Meredith and I were a bit familiar with some of the dishes and ingredients. Our server was a lovely woman. She kept bringing out little bowls of food for us to eat. We had all sorts of mushrooms, watercress salad, kimchi, hot zucchini, various soups and dipping sauces. Some of it was delicious, some of it... was not. My favorite was a cold pumpkin soup. Brian ate a mouthful of tiny salted fish thinking it was the seaweed salad. I think the most questionable item were the little cubes of what looked like jello. It looked like it would be sweet but it tasted like... semen. Semen Jell-o. After I made that comparison everyone at the table that had not tried it swallowed a tiny piece and we were all in agreement. Hilarity ensued. We also drank four or five bottles of BOKBUNJA or raspberry wine.
Anyway, back to the makeup.
ALL MAC UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED:
Select Foundation in NW15
Normally I do not wear liquid foundation unless I am going for a very formal and polished look. This one does the trick. It has medium coverage and is best applied with a brush. I used my 187 brush, of course.
Blot Powder in Light
You have to use powder on top of liquid foundation, no exceptions. Blot powder is very finely milled, colorless and does an excellent job of setting your foundation. You can reapply as often as you need to and it does not cake or add color.
Blush/bronzer in MAC's famed Mineralized Skin Finish in the color SO CEYLON.
Mineralized Skin Finishes have a cult following. They are little compacts with various shades and finishes of powder that blend together when you put it on. They are baked on terra cotta tiles in Italy. When they are released it is for a limited time only and after they sell out at stores, ebay and lj communities are the only place you can find them for hugely inflated prices. They are really wonderful, though. I own four and use them very sparingly. I am very fortunate that I'm like THIS (fingers crossed) with the sales guy at the Estee Lauder outlet in Connecticut so he stashes them in the stock room for me if they happen to get any in. They give such a pretty flush of color without being too matte or too sparkly.
URBAN DECAY Primer Potion
A nice eyeshadow primer that makes your application stick. Keeps colors vibrant and prevents creasing.
Cream Colour Base in FABLULUSH.
CCBs are meant to be used on your eyes, lips and cheeks. I dabbed a bit of this frosty orange on my eyelids to give my eyeshadow a bit more to stick to.
Eyeshadow:
JUICED on my lid into the crease
ARENA above that
VAPOR to highlight the browbone
CORK to fill in my eyebrows
Fluid Liner in Blitz and Glitz on the upper lashline only
curled eyelashes and black mascara
FINALLY my lipgloss!
Nordstroms sent me a sample of Yves Saint Laurent's summer lip colors. I am not too familiar with YSL other than knowing it is a very expensive French designer. Anyway, I tried the lipgloss named No. 5 and it is AMAZING. It smells like champagne and peaches and is actually .2% 24 karat gold. It is a lovely frosty orange that I am going to buy the next time I go to the mall. Unfortunately, it is 27 dollars a tube. But it looks fabulous.
Okay everyone that was your lesson for the day. Happy Sunday.
