It's a trap!
What is it about rag tag fleets that's so appealing? The Rebel Alliance has it, the Galactica fleet has it, the Exo-Fleet has it. Even the Ticonderoga and the SDF-1, single ships (if you ignore the SDF-1's arms) fighting the Chigs and Zentraedi, had that rag tag fleet quality. Makes for damn fine sci-fi.
