Anyway I thought that I'd update since I have nothing else to do around here today. Here's what I've been up to lately.

On Tuesday and Thursday mornings I have my Intro to Cartography class which lasts for 2 hours. On Wednesday nights I have 3 hours of Intro to Geography. Both classes are really cool although it amazed me the second night of Geography how many people don't know how to use Latitude and Longtide to find places on a map. That's just crazy to me, I don't know why. I'm thinking of adding the Intro to GIS course that's offered Thursday nights so I can take the Advanced GIS class in the spring that way I will finish in a year instead of 2, unless, of course, I go on and get the Associates degree instead of just the certificate. How insane would that be though, that I'd have a BS, a BA, and an Associates degree? Seems like overkill but whatever's going to help me get a job I guess.

Monday, Wednesday, and Friday during the day I work at Casey Trees. So far I've been doing a whole lot of nothing. If this conference/forum/panel dealy works out it will be a miracle. If we have more than 3 people show up that will be a miracle. No one I've called knows how to return a phone call or respond via email, it's insane!! This is why I've given up on my correspondance - because people I email never respond. Anyway, I'm still in the big fancy office with the giant desk and big window looking down on K street and McPherson Square. As much as I enjoy those perks though the office is way too big for me and I feel like the people here look at me like "Why does she get that office?" I didn't ask to sit here, Jim Lyons put me here since it's right next to his office. I'd be much happier in the little cube I used over the summer that's between Karen and Ashley. Next week I'm supposed to be moving over there, thank goodness.

Saturday I went hiking on the Billy Goat trail with Evan and his PVRG pals. It was a lot of fun. The stamina of everyone else put me to shame, I didn't think I was gonna make it. We all laughed at the emergency exit but with a quarter of a mile left I was wishing there was another one around the next rock. I'm proud of myself for making it all the way though. Part of my problem was insufficient water supply. I'll know better for next time. You can check out the pics I took here. BTW my legs are aching today because I pushed them so hard. (I need to go out and get a new mountain bike now so I can go riding on the C&O Canal towpath. I feel so out of shape and inactive.) After we got done hiking we went to a chinese restaurant in Potomac. I only had a mild food coma after that so I was okay to drive home. Remarkably it only took me 30 minutes to get home from there on the back roads.

Sunday I sat around and did nothing but watch tv. I mean I did nothing. I was so exhausted from the hike on Saturday I was pretty much in a daze just sitting there staring at the tv without even recognizing what I was seeing. Then we went out to the new Red Lobster (Red Lobstah! Red Lobstah!) in Laurel for dinner. I got some extra Cheddar Bay biscuits to bring home which I seriously hope are still in the fridge when I get home this evening.

Hearing about all those poor animals that were left behind by their owners and all their poor owners who are trying desperately to find them makes me want to have Oakley with me all the time but in lieu of that I've been looking for a new ID tag for him so that in the event we get separated someone will be able to get us back together. They have a cool electronic one that you can program everything into but it's $40 which I don't want to spend. Then there's the cool tube ones that have you write the information on a piece of paper and put it in this tube that's an inch or so long. The last kind is the basic piece of stainless steel, brass, or plastic in the shape of a bone that you have engraved. Classic yet not as cool as the other two. They're also cheaper than the others which is why I'll probably get one of those.

That's all for now, it's birthday party time!! I hope the cake is good. Something with chocolate would be ideal.

EDIT: It was chocolate raspberry cake covered in chocolate ganache mmmmmm.....soooo goooood....
