This evening when I was driving home from work, around 6:30, I happened to glance over and notice a sign on a lamppost for another missing pet. This time it was a fluffy white cat. I hadn't seen the sign before and I could barely make out that it was actually a cat but my immediate reaction was that I wondered if they'd ever be able to find it. As soon as I had thought that it flew right out of my head and I didn't think about it again until around 8pm this evening. Oakley was crying to get out front because my mom was talking to our neighbor from across the street so I put on his leash and took him out front. He kept pulling me down the street because he wanted to go for a walk. After we gave a lost kid who drove up our street directions back to 95 (as any of you who have been to my house know it's easy to get lost there even though there's only one main street) I took Oakley for a walk. He's not very good at the "walking" part, it's more like pulling and stopping. Anyway, we walked up the left side of the street instead of the right because there was a dog on the right side as well as lots of people and when we got to the intersection of Schubert and Beethoven I noticed a fluffy white cat sitting under a car across the street. It saw Oakley, turned and walked up the driveway. My mind immediately went back to the sign I had glanced at on my way home from work so I turned down Beethoven in search of the sign. I found it after pulling and stopping at every tree, bush, and sign post on the street, memorized the number and started home. Luckily my dad happened to be driving by on his way to bowling so he gave us a ride home. I walked in the door and immediately called the number to let them know I might have seen their cat. The girl who answered was very nice and said the cat had been missing for two weeks since August 22. I told her where I saw it and she went over to look. She called once to ask for more specific directions then went back to looking. She called me about 20 minutes ago to tell me that she had found the cat!! She was just about to leave when she heard him meow and saw him hiding. She was able to coax him out and finally caught him. I was so happy to hear that. She said he was skinny and disoriented but otherwise okay. She wanted to send a reward but I told her not to. I told her I'd hope that someone would do the same for me if Oakley was missing.
The weirdest part is that apparently there are signs all over the neighborhood and they've been up for about 2 weeks yet I didn't notice it until this evening and I didn't really get a good look when I did see it. It's amazing how things like this happen, like it's divine intervention, okay maybe it's not that big but it was like everything just came together at that moment. It's a little weird but very cool.
