Photos of a Sunburnt Suburbia

I was putting the trash out and the deadness of my lawn (not to mention the deadness of my ivy) caught my eye and I thought I'd take a photo. But before I actually took any photos, I got chatting with a neighbour and it was dim-dark by the time we were done, so I had to use the flash.

Dead Grass

The deadness of the grass in my lawn. Those green bits aren't grass, they're weeds. The branch you can see at the top is the branch that fell off the silky-oak tree in the high hot winds the day before (which was the hottest day on record).

Dead Ivy

The wall near my front door is covered with ivy; normally it is a wall of green and white (one of the varieties of ivy is parti-coloured green and white). After two heatwaves in a row, the poor thing is mostly dead. I've been living in this house for ten years, and the ivy has never been affected like this before: ivy is tough.
