Can I just say, I just LOVE that icon.
You are actualy starting to make me want to watch star trek. (I have never seen a single episode, just know bit from refences from Doctor Who and Stargate and Atlantis)

But but but but Star Trek is Classic! Well, Classic Trek is Classic.

Mind you, I have absolutely no idea if it will stand up to today's audiences, considering that I first saw it when I was, like, six years old...
I suppose you could look at it as a window on the world of forty years ago, on what they thought the Future would be like. Golly. It really was that long ago...

I just checked: 1966 to 1969. That makes about 40 years from 2007.

It just goes to show how good it must have been to still merit carzy fans and the fact that just about every sci-fi fan knows it (exept me it seems) :)

I think it caught people's imaginations. There are later things that have surpassed it, but part of the reason they've surpassed it is because they had it as a model to surpass, if you see what I mean.
