There are certain parts of college I will never miss. Case in point: the Bursar's office.

Monday last I received an email from the Bursar's office saying (in essence), "We recalculated your bill and you now owe us $1700 dollars."

After a certain amount of shocked WTF-ery on my part, I walked down to the Bursar's office and asked for an explanation plzkthx, and received on along the lines of "You're a grad student now, so no state grants for you.BTW, it's only $1200 and you have plenty of loan money available."

You can imagine that this was little comfort to me, as I shuffled home, dejected. But since the money wasn't due until the end of March, I put off thinking about it, in hopes that it would just go away.

Then on Wednesday, I received another email, again along the lines of: "We recalculated your bill." And I thought, "Well, fuck." Then I actually looked up my account on the internet and found that my balance due had mysteriously returned to $0.

Again, a certain amount of shocked WTF-ery.

But the coup de grâce on all this was the email I got on Thursday, saying "You have a credit of $100, and the check's in the mail."

*headdesk*

I was going to go back down to the Bursar's office and be like "WTF, man?" but I think maybe I'll just let it go. I don't want them changing their mind or anything. But still, we're pretty much halfway through the semester, why do these guys still not know how much money I owe them?

In other news, a couple of students in my class keep addressing me as "Prof" despite a conversation regarding academic rankings. I know it's silly, but I can't help but feel shiny.
