My, it's been quite awhile since I updated this thing...
Well, my sophomore has been a bit rocky here and there, but all in all, things are currently amazing.
This week has been mighty eventful. I went to Chicago with Ted to see Beirut on Thursday. We were late by an hour and a half, but managed to catch most of Beirut's set. It was so awesome! Beirut is definitely a band that everyone needs to see live! After that, we went on a drive around downtown Chicago, and then headed back to the safe, welcoming arms of Cornell College. We didn't get back to Mount Vernon until about 3:30.
Saturday night was the Girl Talk - Dan Deacon show at the Picador in Iowa City. After spending the afternoon at the mall with Leather and Gracie, I met up with Ash, Ted, and Batty. We were an hour early so Ash and Batty went in search of food, and Ted got cigs, and I got gelato. Then, we headed back to the Picador. Right off the bat, Batty saw Dan Deacon and got giddy as a schoolgirl when he was able to get a picture with him. The first bad was a decent local noise band. White Williams played after that, and after an obnoxious set-up and mediocre first song, were surprisingly good. Then, Dan Deacon came out, and HOLY SHIT! He was amazing! Everyone's dancing around and sweating and freaking out! It was absolutely nuts! Then, Girl Talk came out, and it was the same thing. The show wasn't over until like a quarter of two in the morning, and afterwards we headed back to campus.
My first block was pretty sucky for the majority of it. Completely weird though. I really dropped off in my Russian class, though, and I need to pick that up for 205 next block.
Right now, I'm in Public Policy with an aggravating rent-a-prof who really just makes me not want to come to class ever. But screw it, I just bring my laptop to class and fuck around on it all the time.
I really want Mary to come back from the library, so I can go out for a cig with her. After this pack, I'm done. Unless I go to a concert. Hah.
Well, I really should get some of this reading done for tomorrow.
