Stay to open areas if you can. There will be a more ample opportunity to spot creatures approaching from a distance.

Perhaps luring them into a bottleneck would be most efficient.

An ideal defense would require multiple combatants to hold the line, taking into consideration how mobile these creatures are. For now it would be in our best interests to stay hidden and locate the source they are coming from before deciding a plan of action.

You assume stealth to be simple cowering in corners, my friend. There is an art involved in being one with the void and using it to strike at the right moment.

I do not, to my regret. No such news concerning a counterstrike has come up thus far.
