Our home was "heat treated" for termites and such yesterday; this meant that the entire apartment building was raised to a temperature of 150 F (approx. 65 C) and anything that could not survive had to be packed up and moved out for the day. This was the equivalent of most everything, so we put it all into two cars and drove one to an alternate sleeping location.
During our grand day out, we visited with
ryuujin40 and his family and I finally got to experience a Wii, first-hand.
This thing surprised me. I knew, generally speaking, how the thing was supposed to work, but I also knew that I would probably have to try it for myself to see how well it did what it tried to do. I tried my hand (literally) at
Wii Play and
Wii Sports, both of which were pretty easy to get the hang of, once you get the feel of how the controls for each game work. I didn't expect both the primary Wii remote control and its "nunchuck" attachment to have tilt sensors in them (a must-have for Boxing, which I had trouble getting the hang of on the first try). I also didn't expect to be as entertained - or entertaining - as I was with a freaking golf game.
I may never own one of these things, but I was impressed and it speaks well for the future. In short, it's very good.
