Something of a long shot, but does anyone have any book or movie recommendations that involve the First World War? I'm doing some work research about it for a program next winter, and I've always wanted to know more about the war. I have a halfway decent layman's knowledge, but that's it.
Nonfiction, fiction, poetry, music, movies, all welcome. Tangential issues like the Spanish Flu also great.
So far I've read the Guns of August and seen A Very Long Engagement, All Quiet on the Western Front, Joyeux Noel, and War Horse. (Also Downton Abbey which doesn't quiiiiite count as WWI, but I loved it all the same.) I've got John Keegan and Marc Bloch's books on my to-read list but that's it.
