Kuwait
Well. hahahaha. im in kuwait!!! in the business class lounge. on one of the many comps they have here. its so random but my fam and i r stopping off here for a few hours before we go to singapore and then onto australia to visit fam and everything. i swear my mother and i r the 2 out of the four western women in the whole airport and then my family makes up 50% of the western population in general. its SO COOL!!!!!! i am IN LOVE. i mean going to asia and europe is fun and interesting and exciting but this place- ITS SO INCREDIBLE!! i mean ive just been in the airport for a few hours but the signs r all in arabic- and my mother who speaks it was giving me a rudimentary lesson on it. and the people are so INTERESTING. i mean i havnt spoken to any of them but watching them is just fascinating. i mean people watching is one of the things i like to do at the best of times- but im having the time of my life over here lol. before we left my parents were telling me to dress "billowy" and then i had a nervy spaz bc i was like- ew wat rite do the men of kuwait have over me and the way i dictate my life??! but now im sort of glad that im in my sweat pants and baggy tshirt. there r quite a few arab women who are wearing tight tops and stuff but when my mother and i were walking we were getting enough stares as it was from just being western women. i have to admit when i first came into the airport it was reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaally unsettling the way all of the men LOOKED at you- without trying to hide it or anything. and i was so scared that i would get raped on my way to the bathroom or something. but now im used to it and i just stare right back. but im very concious(spl??) of the fact that im white and my arms are bare. on our way to kuwait we flew over iraq and baghdad! its incredible how desolate the land is- it really is a desert...you could even see the sand dunes that u see in movies from the air. my dad was convinced he saw smoke comming up from outside of baghdad but i told him he was probably hallucinating. ahh! im so excited to be here- i just wish i could look around more. ppl prob hate me for taking up the comp.
