Hi,
well here goes it for 2014. Still a very long way it seems from solving my access issues, but I shall wait no longer to start posting. This first story of 2014 was inspired partly, or should that be spawned from an exchange of comments in the responses to my fic. The Loneliness of the Long Distance Hero. That was a much delayed pressie for
elisi , as indeed is this.
Hope you enjoy sweetie,
and Thank You.

The music was deafening; had no natural rhythm, or courtly gentleness. Jack hated it. He longed for Billie Holiday, or Dusty, or the manic joy of old Amadeus, but he was here.
Back in the Eternal City of course, but this place had none of the grace and glory of the city he'd known in the past; even Caligula had had more class than this place.
His childish musings had nothing to do with the blonde woman dancing near him, who had rejected him again; and again.
For a country boy with all the grace of a... Captain Jack Harkness gave himself a metaphorical kick up the behind... and decided to take it out on someone else instead. Using the excuse of the cover story they were using; well except him, he was using his, well one of his identities anyway, he danced close to the blonde woman, and whispered into her ear.
"Your roots are showing."
"Go away!" Amy Pond hissed at him.
"Even my old mum could've done a better job."
Ignoring the glare she gave him, he pointed out they were supposed to be a couple, then added, "I could have done a better job."
Amy stopped for a moment, looked him up and down, then started dancing again, telling him in a very bad american accent, "These pants would never have fit."
She would have added further insult, but she spotted the two vampires entering the club; well she spotted Rory signalling their arrival, so she turned her face away, and started clubbing it.
But not so close as to give the impression that the Immortal Captain Jack had any chance of getting in her knickers. Thankfully she didn't have to continue the charade for long. River and The Doctor danced close to them, hissing in unison, "They're gone."
Amy waved a couple of fingers at her partner, and raced across the floor to dance with her husband.
Jack just stood there, still slightly not believing that anyone could resist his charms.
"Are you saying I'm fat?"
"Well you're not as young as you used to be."
Jack's face took on a hurt expression. "I'm the Immortal!"
"Of course you are, sweetie."
The Doctor swept him away into a slow dance before he could answer that one.
River meanwhile had left to follow the vampires. The platinum haired one was new to her, personally anyway; very cute, but still a baby. Besides she could remember Angelus when he was far more dangerous than this kid would ever be.
And fun.
A sly grin appeared on her face. There were two people inside who were still a lot of fun; especially for someone as dangerous as she still was, and when The Immortal Captain Jack Harkness wore an expression like a chastened puppy, she could have fun with him; them for days and days.
"Ooh you are wicked," she told herself with a whistle.
"But I like you."
Goddess be with you all,
'tis ok to be Takei,
Ray.
