On the first night, after traveling by two planes and two trains and doing a whole lot of waiting, Christine (my roommate) and I were finally in Saint-Omer and were greeted by Marianne (Christine's contact person) and Steve (my contact person).
Since the woman in charge of checking people into the apartment complex had already gone home for the evening (it was 10pm when we arrived), we stayed at Marianne's house. We ate dinner with Marianne and her husband: pasta, salad with salt and pepper in oil, some wine, a platter of cheeses, and a veal dish (which I didn't eat).
Here's the front of her house (This was taken the day after):
Here's the entrance of her home:
Here's all of our luggage we had to haul around!
Here's down the hall:
I think that door ^ led to the side of the house/patio in the backyard. To the right of that hallway was the kitchen, dining area, and the tv/ family room.
She also had a lot of pretty cool art:
This is the dining room; through those doors is the kitchen:
This was the selection for breakfast. I had a banana and some tea:
Here's this cool bag holder:
Here's the bathroom:
There wasn't a shower curtain around the tub.
And the shower head was verrrry low, so I had to stand over the tub with my head flipped upside down in order to wash my hair.
There is a separate room for the toilet:
Here's the room I stayed in that night:
She had a poster of muse and a picture of bob marley up.
This bed was EXTREMELY comfortable, especially after trying to sleep on a plane and arriving in France at 5AM.
"Because I Love You"
That book is pretty cute looking.
Here's some of the buildings around her house:
That's a dance studio/school
I believe this place is where you get your dogs spruced up and then get glamor shot of them (not even joking!). There were professional pictures of pets displayed in the window.
And here's a creepy picture of a dog someone painted on the window (It looks possessed):
There is a HUGE public garden. This is only a picture of it from the street. Its actually at a lower elevation. I didn't take a picture of it, but will try to soon. Marianne said that the police got some complaints about a naked man walking around it at night, had a stakeout to catch him, and saw three people (2 men and a woman?) walking around (just walking around) naked at night. I probably will not go there at night.
Here's a better view of the dolphins:
My next entry will show off the apartment!
