Two Fridays ago, Christine and I tried out sitting at a cafe for the first time...we weren't sure if you could just sit down or had to be seated...and we weren't sure if we were supposed to sit next to each other or across from each other because an older couple were sitting side-by-side.
The view:
So we just decided to sit side-by-side(my face kinda got washed out):
I tried asking for a limonade, like Christine had, but I said "Juste un limonade" and she thought I meant just one drink total, not just a limonade for me, as well. So we sat there with one soft drink and people watched for a little while.
That night, we met up with Marianne's daughter (Anne) and her friends and went to an Eastern European Folk band performance:
People gathered in front of the stage:
And started dancing:
Then we went to two pubs (Le Gribolin (?) and then La Phare) after the concert (because the first one was too crowded).
Here's Anne's friend, me looking crazy, and Anne on the right at La Phare:
Anne is working in England as a French Language Assistant. She left two days later to get settled there. She is good at English. I am bad at French.
Here's Benjamin, Christine, and another of Anne's friends (I can't remember her name!):
Saturday, Christine and I went to the marche in our town center:
Inside a boulangerie:
We went to a cafe in the town center afterwards. We figured we could just sit down and didnt' need to be seated. Pretty sure that's the protocol unless someone is there to greet you.
Here's Christine enjoying her food!
Lookin' cute!
Here I am!
Crazy over the bread!
Here is an inappropriate shirt at a French version of a 99-cent store:
We went to Lille on Sunday to meet up with some other assistants. The walk to the train station:

Beer Palace:
There were some crazy demonstrators...
Not quite sure what they were doing…
There were palm trees!
Christine and I:
We met up with Sarah and Liz:
And looked for a café. This one was nice but too expensive:
After eating, we wandered into this enclosed courtyard where books were being sold:

Christine and I went to the Palais des Beaux Arts. Here's a fountain outside of the art museum:
Inside le musee:

Some art:
Crazy eyes:
This lady is not having it. Notice her knife.
Thinkin'. Poutin'...
Here I am!
Sexy lady:
The Museum was really beautiful. Here are some pictures that Christine took (besides the ones interspersed throughout this entry):
Here I am, again!
Outside of the Museum again:
We ended up getting a group of about 6-10 assistants together somehow and met up after parting for the afternoon to catch some dinner. Earlier, I had an "omelette tortilla," which was pretty filling. It had eggs, potatoes, and onions. So I waited on dinner and just hung out. We went to a restaurant called "Les Moules" (The Mussels). I am allergic to shellfish but was fine until the end of the dinner when some other people at other tables ordered some. So I had to take a breather outside of the cafe as people ordered desert/coffee and paid.
Here’s me before we met up with them outside of the train station (I decided to get some coffee and ruin a picture by not holding still):
Here’s Sarah, Stacey, and me
At the restaurant:
Nearby, at the courtyard where books were being sold at earlier, people were tangoing to live music:
