The Struggle
I’ve done it again.
I’ve added yet another fandom to my ever growing list… and this one’s a bit embarrassing. I have been sucked into the world of Otalia.
For the uninitiated, Otalia is the “romantic” friendship between Olivia and Natalia on the soap opera Guiding Light. Let’s be clear, I haven’t watched a soap since I was 20, roughly 1996, and when I did watch it was Days of Our Lives. This probably contributed to how I got reeled in so easily. Crystal Chappell, the actress who plays Olivia was actually on Days when I watched it. The 10 plus years have only made her more attractive, cause damn I couldn’t look away once I started watching. The whole point is that these former enemies are now living together, raising a child together, and in general falling in love with each other. It’s all very sweet and angsty and well played. God, I so don’t want to like it and I so do. I am so Otalia’s bitch, but I WILL NOT WRITE A FANFIC!
Which brings me to my main reason for posting. I currently have 5 half-written fics sitting on my thumb drive. FIVE! This is an all time new low for me. I am usually so good at keeping things to 2 at most, but the muse, cheap whore that she is, dropped a few little plots on me then fled the building. So this is my effort to shame myself into finishing them. In not particular order:
Rest For the Wicked
STV, B’Elanna/Seven, 7000 words thus far.
Toby has been targ-napped. B’Elanna is tearing through the ship and it’s occupants trying to find him. Seven is trying to master the art of sleeping, and finds assistance in strangest of places.
A Lean and Hungry Look
HP, Hermione/Pansy, 3000 words thus far.
Post-war. Pansy has spent the last five years testifying against her former allies, now someone is trying to kill her. Hermione gets caught up in the protection of Pansy, much to her own displeasure.
Acid Test
NCIS, Abby/Ziva, 1500 words thus far.
Abby likes to play. Will Ziva join the game?

Emily is tortured and brooding after JJ goes off to play house with Will. Garcia watches and sees all.

The missing scenes from Lalasa and Tian’s relationship. My attempt at filling in the blanks.
So, my goal is to finish Rest by my birthday. It’s definitely going to be my last STV story. As much as I love B’Elanna and Seven, I feel like they just aren’t talking to me anymore. I don’t even read the fanfic for them.
Lean and Hungry is the story that keeps me up at night. I’ve plotted out the first ten chapters, and only written the first two. Pansy’s voice is really hard to nail down. She’s bitchy, but scared… evil, but not really. Mostly I just want to reach out and hug her, which totally doesn’t work for where the story begins. Ugh! I made her all twisty and damaged, but that’s not the face she presents to the world. I might actually have to get a beta that is not my wife for a bit more help flushing her out.
Acid Test and the Criminal Minds piece can languish for a bit longer. I’m having difficulty shipping Em with Garcia simply because I love Kevin (Xander) so much. It’s ridiculous, but true. I really want to write Abby and Ziva, but mostly I just want them to have sex, and they’re all let’s play mind games first. Stupid characters.
Lalasa and Tian is more of an “as I reread the books” project. They’re already an established couple, there just weren’t many pages devoted (like zero, one minute they were friends and the next they were shacked up) to their meeting and romance. I just wanted to fill in the blank spots for myself.
