I had the distinct honor of working with James Whitmore Sr. at the Peterborough Players. First, I had the chance to chat with him, and observe his acting skills when I was still in High School and had just decided that I truely wanted to be an actor. Then, the chance of a lifetime came... I got to be a dresser backstage for a show he was working on. I got to chat with him in the green room before performances, sip wine with him on opening night, and hear stories of the glory days of cinema and the stage. Just when I thought life couldn't have blessed me anymore than it already had, I got to be an intern for two summers, and observe him even more, get to know him, and even recieve a note from him on his personalized stationary. I was essentially in seventh hevean.

James Whitmore was a lovely man and a fabulous actor. He had seen and experienced a great deal in his life. I feel extremely blessed to have known him and for having the chance to observe him up close and personal. He even came to our children's shows and cheered us all on when we had an audience. He warmed my heart, and he shall be missed.

Rest In Peace, Mr. Whitmore. You humbled us all, and made all of us interns feel special. Thank you for your kindness and amazing work.
