Politics just disgusts me. I used to be super-interested in keeping up with politics & world news. I read everything I could. But I can't get into anything nowadays, because it just makes me EXHAUSTED to sift through the BS. Every article I read is slanted one way or the other, VERY OBVIOUSLY. I can't even watch the Daily Show anymore, because even though I love laughing at George Bush, the show does just what I hate and uses selective editing to make everything one-sided. I had to yell at a technician tonight to stop badmouthing Barack Obama. Not because I thought he was right, but because I'm tired of everyone yelling misguided comments about everything whenever they feel like it. Was it that I couldn't have sent back a few gems regarding W and the republicans? No, of course not. But I'd rather spend my evening talking about Harry Potter, or the iPhone, or the weather, or anything else pleasant. When I think about politics too much, I become a stressed, angry person. And who wants to be like that?
Maybe it makes me a bad American or something but I know I'm voting democrat, I know why I believe what I believe about taxes and healthcare and welfare and pro-choice and blah blah, and I know I don't want another 8 years of republican fuckup running the country, no matter how spunky the new vice presidential candidate might be. I don't have any desire to learn more about either candidate, and I have no desire to try to justify to someone else why I am voting Democrat. I'd rather just be a happy, peaceful little closet liberal.
I don't know why I'm posting this. I just realized it today, that's all. ::shrug::
