blanc macabre- #1 in the fairy tale series

white
sheets of transparent silk
framed by twining
sable locks
spilling over pillowcase
and pale breast
pure as snowfall
on darkened sill
crimson drips
from ivory to ivory
backdrop of ebony
blood on snow
lover's lips on skin
well wrought shadows and
dark hair
obsidian gaze

blanc macabre comes from the french meaning "a whitness representing death". This is the first in a series I'm working on that attempts to portray classic fairy tales in an abstract way. This poem focuses on the fairy tale of Snow White. The poem connects different events of the tale through the use of the colors black, red and white. It's really up to the reader's interpretation as to which events they think are portrayed, but it can also be perceived as a poem about Snow White herself rather than her story. It is a poem that can really be left up to the reader's interpretation, which is what I intended in writing it.
