The Morning After (Closed to lasgalenlegolas )

Since meeting Legolas, Willow had a lot of firsts in her life. She was in love and while that wasn't a first because she had honestly loved Oz, it hadn't been this deep or this fast. She'd been aware that what she'd felt for him, while wonderful, hadn't really been like what Buffy and Angel had. She couldn't say that anymore. What she felt for ( Read more... )

Legolas felt various emotions from Willow and he knew that she had not had the relationship with her parents that he had. He wished there was something more he could do about that, but the past was as it was. "I hope one day you can visit my world. My Ada will love you. He always wanted a daughter."

The pair moved through the small village as they talked, finally spotting the farm in the fields near the stables. They approached the small building near the road, where the signs indicated farm fresh food for sale.

Willow felt a happy flip flop in her stomach when Legolas said that his father would love her. She'd never admit it, naturally, but there was a bit of nerves wondering what Legolas' friends and family would think of her.

When the stopped in front of the entrance to the farm, Willow just grinned. "I've never been to farm before. Oh, I've been to a farmer's market but that's not really the same thing. This is so cool."

"Aside from my visits to Gondor or Mithlond," Legolas said as they entered the building, "this is all that I know. Farming and hunting are our normal ways of eating." He was pleased to see the fresh food available in the small building. They chose a large, beautiful hand-made basket and began to browse among the fresh eggs, cheese, milk, fruits and vegetables.

"What looks good to you, Willow?" Legolas asked as the fresh fruit caught his eye.

Willow noticed where Legolas was looking and gently led him over toward the fruit. "This is a good place to start I think. You can never go wrong with fresh fruit. Huh, I wonder if the village lets any fruit grow here no matter what the season is."

She picked up a bag of apples and put it in the basket. "What looks good to you?" All the fruit and vegetables looked delicious.

"Everything looks wonderful," Legolas said, admiring the beautiful produce. He chose a few peaches and pears to add to her apples, then turned to the vegetables. "These look exceptionally good," he said, choosing a bunch of carrots and several cucumbers. "Now, for a few things to cook," he said, moving over to look at the root plants. Legolas picked up a bundle of onions, garlic and a small bag of potatoes. "I love potatoes and onions with garlic and herbs," he said with a grin. "Are there any herbs here?" he asked, looking around.

Willow grinned, "Probably but the only herbs I know what they look like only come in jars." She glanced around looking for plant like objects. "Oh, over here." She walked over to where there were a few plantings in pots that luckily had names.

"Um, this is mint. Huh, who knew what it looked like fresh? Basil, rosemary." Willow was reading each of the little signs.

"In jars?" Legolas questioned, then realized that they probably dried the herbs in world and put them in containers. "Oh, dried, you mean," he said, hoping he could find fresh ones. He smiled when she finally found the small plants. Nodding, Legolas looked them over, then finally chose one small plant of each of basil, rosemary, thyme, mint, parsley and cilantro. "These should do for a start. I will need to locate a large box and some dirt to transplant these into so they can continue to grow."

"Is there anything else that you would like?" Legolas asked as he chose eggs, milk and fresh farmers cheese to complete his purchases. He was glad that he had chosen a very large basket.

Willow looked over the variety of cheeses and picked out a couple of goat's cheese and a small bag of beans. "That's a pretty good haul." She grinned placing her last bits in the basket with Legolas'. "We should be good for a few days. I like that there is a place to get so many fresh things."

It was like Hanukkah. All these treats.

"I do as well," Legolas said with a nod as they went to pay for their purchases. "I am glad that I am working soon; I do not like debt." He took the basket from the clerk and thanked them, then took Willow's hand in his for the stroll home. As they prepared to leave the small store, he remembered something.

"We should get bread. Is there a baker nearby?"

Willow thought about it. "Uh there's a bakery but it's mostly sweet stuff like cakes and donuts. Things like that but they might have bread, too." She hadn't gone in there much because she wasn't a big dessert eater.

"It's in that direction if you want to check it out. There's always the grocery store for bread." She knew that they for sure had it there.

"I'm not really sure where you can get the stuff for the herbs. Maybe the Botanical Center or the General Store might have those kinds of things."

The pair left the small store and made their way to the bakery. It was, as Willow had said, full of sweets but near the back, was a rack of fresh baked breads. Legolas smiled and nodded, asking for a round loaf of rosemary/olive oil bread and a long loaf of cinnamon bread. "Cinnamon bread is wonderful dipped in egg and baked," Legolas said as he took their purchases. He now had both hands full so Willow was left with her hands free. Legolas missed the contact but knew they were very close to the hotel.

"That is all that I wanted, is there anything more you wished to purchase," He said as they stepped back out into the street.

"Oh that does sound good." She walked beside Legolas on the way back to the hotel. "I'm good." Willow laughed looking at their purchases. "I think we have enough for a while."

While she missed the contact of her hand in his, she had their bond which provided the same warmth to her soul. "I didn't notice when I was in your um... our room if you had a kitchen. We can always cook in my room if we need to."

"I honestly did not look at the room a lot," Legolas admitted as they reached the hotel and went inside. "There is an area behind a large hedge that has cabinets and rather odd looking metal boxes that might be kitchen type things. It all looks very different to what I am used to." They reached the elevator and went inside. "We can put these things in the room and then go and collect your things," he said, looking to her for agreement.

While Legolas' hands were full, Willow hit the button for the elevator to take them up to the room. "That sounds good. I can look in and see if you do have a kitchen."

And really more important in her mind is to see if he had a bathroom because yeah, she might be making frequent trips to her old room otherwise.

They rode up in the elevator, the trip not taking much time and Willow opened the door. She looked over her shoulder at him. "I've always wanted to say this. We're home."
