On my way to class this morning, a professor I've never had a class with and whose name I don't even know greeted me with "You're not wearing your hat; the profile's all wrong." I apologized for the problems that fact was evidently causing him and went on to ornithology, but took a moment to reflect upon it.
Firstly: hey, people know me! Even if it is only for my hat. Secondly: I have barely worn my hat this year, and this is apparently the world's way of telling me that I should.
