Sometimes, I just wish he would remember ... but that's not fair. There are very good reasons why he doesn't need to know what happened at Oz's coming of age ceremony.
[are these people noticing me and just ignoring me, or do they not know i'm there? either way i'm easing towards the bookcase first to look for clues as to where i might be, confused.]
[while it is entirely likely that the people with unusually blue eyes are ignoring you, the serving staff seem to honestly not see you. The bookcase is full of books that probably make little sense to Pell, given that they talk about something called a "Chain", sacrificing people and the nature of the Abyss. The content of the books read like particularly horrific fairy tales, though there are a few hints scattered throughout the text that no, everything mentioned is entirely real and the person writing it was driven more than a little insane by their experiences. The infrequent mentions of "Sablier" and how the Abyss opened under their feet probably don't help much.
The books themselves are well cared for, with heavy parchment pages and leather bound covers. It suggests a lot of money, especially given that it's quite clear that the books themselves are lettered and illustrated by hand.
you really don't want to look at the illustrations overly long; they will give you nightmares.]
[flips through a few, and having gotten no clues and disturbing himself a bit, he puts them back in place and heads for the desk, weaving through the people. m-maybe something there.]
[The desk is probably older than the combined age of camp -- okay, kidding, but it is old and made of heavy, dark wood. There's a fountain pen and paper spread on the desk. If you were to read the papers, it's hard to read and the words blur, but certain words are clearer than others: Sablier, success, investment, sharing, safeguard. The words "family pride?" at the bottom is written in a different hand, and it is very clearly written by a very agitated person.]
