In case my sis didn't see this on her FB page (because I don't know if she reads that)

My sister had to give a talk
it caused her lots of stress.
It was for work and she said,
“I’ve thrown up from nerves for less.”

I knew she wasn’t lying,
We were both the nervous kind.
Was it in the genes or what? Who knows?
I could almost read her mind.

Public speaking caused us tremors
And we started in to flush.
At my sister’s wedding toast
I shook so hard I blushed.

So I knew she had a problem
And I worried gobs for her
On the day of her big talk
I drank some hard cider. (hehehe)

I pepped her up with words of cheer
“You’re a lion! Crush this talk!
Take what’s yours and keep your shirt!”
(I stole from 30 Rock.)

Now that it’s done I can report
My sis, she did just swell.
She puked one time, but in the john
On stage would have been hell!

She did just great; I knew she would!
Of her I’m really proud!
She knows her stuff and was prepared
Her talk entranced the crowd.

Three days she had to stand in front
And go through all this pain!
Every day she worried
But she triumphed once again!

And so I write this ode to her
To show how much I care
I knew that she could do it!
And I wish I had been there.

She supports me all the time
In everything I do.
This poem is my way to show
I love and respect her, too.

So if you’re reading this, just know
I’m happy that you’re done.
I’m proud of you; we’ll raise a pint
Now girls’ weekend will be fun!

*throws sparkly confetti all over you because you totally crushed it like a lion and you didn’t rip your shirt off or puke on anyone and yay! All done, man! Now don’t die.*

personal note, poetry
