It's football time again

So, back to the Summer League. This year I'm playing for the mighty Charcoal team; it contains a few people I've played with before - Including G, who was my playmaker last year. Our first game on Tuesday was rained off, but we played last night. We went 1-0 up early in the first half thanks to a goal I had nothing to do with; we then let one in before half time when I got sucked out of position (which is what happens when you make me play centre-half).

The second half started worse yet, although I was restored to my rightful position up front. Some comedy defending led to a ball ricocheting off of a shoulder and past our goalie - 2-1 to the Lime Green teams. Disaster, disaster! What's a centre-forward to do? Get scoring, that's what :o)

Within a few minutes, their goalie screwed up and kicked the ball straight at a defender. It bounced down behind me, I chased back and casually lobbed it in first time from 25 yards. The goalie wasn't in the goal (he'd brought the ball out to kick it) but it still gave me enormous satisfaction. My second was more run-of-the-mill: G sent a through ball for me to chase, so I chased it and slammed it into the top corner at the near post. Few keepers in this league would have come close to stopping it. Never mind that I was aiming somewhere else entirely...

And for my last trick, I got all predatory in a goalmouth scramble and completed a first-game hat-trick, and it finished 4-2. I like to think that augurs well for the season.
