Let It Go - Chapter 5

After a time they resumed normal breathing and simply laid there on the bed, silently basking in the afterglow of their love-making as the sun bathed them in crisp, golden daylight.
“Brother,” Al purred, nuzzling his cheek against the top of Ed’s head, “Was it good?”  Al could feel Ed’s shoulders bounce as Ed suppressed a snicker.
“Yeah,” he cooed in return, returning the nuzzling gesture, “You have no idea…”  Ed fell silent for a moment and then added, with a seductive tone, “…not until next time anyway….”
They were quite for a moment before Al broke the silence once more.
“Brother?” he asked, “Where did you get that condom and oil?  I never knew you were such a perv….”
Al suppressed a laugh as Ed growled with frustration, his head lowering slightly.
“I’m not a perv Al...” he muttered, his voice low and threatening, “Besides, I didn’t hear you complaining while I was fucking you senseless….”  Al couldn’t help but giggle at this.
“Brother!” he laughed chidingly, “That’s not a very nice word….”
“Yeah well…” Ed grumbled, tightening his grip on Al’s hand.  Ed relaxed again before he continued.
“Anyway,” Ed said, nuzzling back up against Al, “Just before Mustang helped us escape the hospital he gave them to me.”  Al’s eyes shot open in surprise as he shifted his head away to look down at the top of Ed’s.
“The General?” he asked with a fading breath, totally baffled.
“Yeah,” Ed said lightly, “But don’t worry; he didn’t give them to me because he knows about us.”  Ed squirmed a little against Al’s body, carefully choosing his next words.
“He gave them to me…” he said hesitantly, “…he gave them to me… well… because he thought Winry and I….”
Al’s eyes relaxed a little into a perfectly round shape of curious confusion.
“You and Winry?” he asked with a whisper, pondering the idea.  Then Al laughed out loud.  “The general thought you and Winry were….”
“Yeah,” Ed muttered, heat rising in his face as Al continued to laugh, “After how she reacted in Central… well, he said he bought them for me because he thought they might be useful later… that there might be “some action” back in Resembool… the nosy, perverted, self-righteous bastard.”  Al laughed even harder when Ed said this and Ed punched him lightly.
“Hey, come on Al,” he pleaded softly, “It’s not that funny!”
“I’m sorry Brother,” Al said, his laughs fading, “It’s just… I never knew the General was such a perv….”
Even Ed giggled at that one.

---
After their small fit of laughter over Mustang’s perverse but “helpful” antics, both Ed and Al snuggled closer to one another and closed their eyes, simply listening to the sound of each other’s heartbeats: muffled throbs.  Both could feel each other’s warmth-their very souls-and they relished their closeness.  Neither wanted to move nor speak, afraid to disturb the moment.
Then Al’s voice broke the quiet for the third time.
“I could never hate you Brother,” he whispered, sliding his head along the pillow to the right and resting it against Ed’s, “I don’t know if I can tell you that enough.  I love you more than anything… so please… just let it all go… let me love you.”
Ed was silent for a time.
“Sure Al,” Ed said finally, his voice cracking slightly while tiny tears streaked paths from his tightly clenched eyes, splashing against Al’s chest and bicep, “I… I love you.”
“I love you too Brother,” Al whispered in response, a broad, relieved smile spanning his face as a single tear glided down his face, “Always.”
