So last week my second year english teacher did a little research by handing the students a questionaire regarding how they felt about english. The second year students are, from my experience thus far, the least interested in English classes. I've been working with the teacher to introduce a few new games and things to make English less of a chore, but it's been something of an uphill battle so far.
Anyway, the results are, at least to me, kind of interesting.

1. Do you like English lessons?
Yes - 2
Leaning more towards yes - 15
Leaning more towards no - 17
No - 4
2. Do you like the ALT English lessons?
Yes - 10
Leaning more towards yes - 18
Leaning more towards no - 8
No - 2

The questions in the middle are (in Japanese) 'dochiraka to ieba suki/kirai', which i translated to be 'if i have to pick one or the other'.
But if i'm wrong, someone let me know, yeah?

So it's kind of interesting, no? There is a noticable difference in the level of interest in the two classes.
(And please avoid comments referring to my looks being the major factor please... :P)

At first, i thought the results were fairly good, but thinking about it now, there are two points that i think play a factor in the results.
1.) The number of students sitting in the middle is still very high. The two questions in the middle indicate (in my opinion) the students who don't really think anything strongly of english. If forced to pick, yeah they'll say they like it or they don't, but they really don't have any interest either way.
2.) I take each class once a week, but every class studies English every day. So naturally, my classes are going to be a little more interesting, because they're a break from the normal schedule, right?

That said though, if i can help those that are interested in English to enjoy it a little more while i'm here, that's something of a victory in itself, i feel.
