I think, from now on, they should be called the Academy of Motion Pictures That Do Not Threaten Our Preconceived Notions of What Makes a Good Film.
Seriously, the big contender for Best Picture this year is about fictitious human drama set in the real world, and they snubbed a film about REAL human drama set in a fictitious world. (Don't get me wrong; I heard the former was actually quite good.) Only one "real" nod out of eight, which would have seen their offices burned to the ground via angry mob had it been otherwise. Still, its small consolation, like being told you played a great game before being told to hop on the short bus. Keep adding those tech awards, guys. Another ten years and we'll be able to determine, down to the millimeter, how far up your collective asses that stick is.
