Evolution: Breaking the Green Seal - Complete

Jul 26, 2010 23:53

It's not hard to see what the title refers to. I was tested in the challenge of whether or not I deserve to be a green belt, and the result was victory! It feels good...heavy, but not unbearable. The test went very well; probably one of the best I've had so far (but of course not perfect by any means). I hit hard, I did my forms with as few mistakes as I could, reacted, defended, and celebrated in my accomplishment. Everyone who tested did well, and to top it all off, we were given the rare privilege of seeing a brown belt test. That was indeed a sight to see, as well as kind of a foresight into what I'll soon be having to face. I really can't go into many of the details; I don't want to give away the magic, but know that I am now a green belt, and it's an awesome feeling I still don't think I've quite fully grasped yet.

So what else has been going on? Nooot shit, really. I think my whole purpose for doing this update was to let you all know about my belt test. Work has been picking up in pace (but not in PAY) since back to school is just around the corner. Technically it's already happening, as the sale ads are now BTS themed. 12 pages of sales, half of which being shit folks will never frickin' use but will ask about until the damn cows come home. The good news is, I only have about a week and a half until vacation. That's...about 5 more actual work days and then I'll be FREE! Well, not FREE, but certainly given reprieve. The painful irony of it is, I'll be spending the same meager money I make WHILE not working to make more...for 3 whole weeks. Realistically, so long as I'm smart about it, I shouldn't have much to worry about. I just have to remember that it IS a vacation and not a money sink.

In educational news, I've begrudgingly signed up for classes starting at the ass end of August. The good news is that I got financial aid JUST in time, but the bad news is that I still have to frickin' go. I suppose it could be worse, as I'm taking electives (fancy talk for classes I may potentially WANT to actually take). But of course, since it's CNM, pretty much every class I was interested in, they don't fucking teach at this campus. Not surprising, but boldly I trudge on. If everything turns out properly, I'll be out by the end of the next term...but I'm wagering strongly on them not having my Bio lab at this campus. Call it an experienced guess.

So really that's about it from my end of the mortal coil. It's been raining here an unusual amount, which is putting moisture (humidity) in the air, so I guess I'm getting a little pre-Jersey preparation. Plus I'll soon get to actually USE this goddamn Open Water diver card (but not on the WHOLE vacation; I DO have other things I'd like to do). I'm excited about it, even though it's not happening for another week and a half. In that regard, I'm not sure when my next update will be, but you can likely expect NOT to hear from me much WHILE I'm on vacation. Not that I don't care; I'll just be busy doing other fun stuff. Don't worry though; you'll all be getting a full report upon my return, or if I get bored one night during my THREE WEEK VACATION. Sorry, but minus the fact I'm losing out on getting all my new advanced-level Kenpo stuff, this is gonna probably be the highlight of 2010 for me.

With that being conveyed to the masses, I think I'm gonna take off. I have a few little style aspects to consider (packing planning) and I have to make sure I've got enough with the right balance (just in case we go out somewhere a bit fancy). I also got a new belt, but you can't see that just yet. Anyway, y'all stay good and keep enjoying the summer. I'm sure I'll be around at least once more before I board that plane to freedom.

"The power of Bob compels you! I should bring this thing with me on the plane." - I found my old Driver's Ed manual that I hilariously defaced.
