Recipe for Win

Well, let's see. You start with determination...add in effort, and sprinkle it with a pinch of dedication. Bake in the oven at 400 degrees for about 12 weeks, and you get...me! If that all was really confusing...well it was kind of meant to be. The English of that is that I found out on Wednesday that - without being pulled aside - my name is on the test list! That means I get to prove my skills in the hopes of gaining another promotion, and I think I'll get it. You don't even need to ask why to know why I think I'll get it. Needless to say, that was pretty much the real start to my week; Monday and Tuesday were basically chrono-stroking sessions of boredom and classes with a small mix of work. I'm sure you all want a bit more detail, and that's perfectly fine. I just wanted to get that little joyous miracle out of the way.

So starting in the usual order, school is still good at 2 days a week...but I'd love to know how the hell I overslept my 9:15 alarm for karate today, but I don't oversleep my 8:30 alarm in the two days a week I have to do for school. For those of you who may be scratching your head, the reason that this perplexes me is because I pretty much herald karate above all else outside of my natural survival instincts like eating, sleeping, and the nightly shower. I've been hearing more and more from the people I talk to/train with that I'd be a good teacher. I ask myself "in what?" and the list is few, martial arts being one on the higher rungs. That being said, I got my Music Appreciation test (which is already finished with an assumed 100; that's what the magic of a take-home exam brings), and Sociology should be fun in the coming week. We're gonna be watching Michael Moore's "Roger & Me" and then get our test (also a take-home), but there's no class on Wednesday. Sadly, I'm still going to be getting up at 8:30, but then I can go the hell home right after...providing I come back eventually to get Mikey. It might wind up being a day where I go get water ice and chill talkin' to the owner for about 2 hours, heh.

While I'm still on that note, I still haven't gotten my goddamn Sociology book yet. I'm gonna have to seriously re-contact this guy. While I now know WHY it's not here, there hasn't been much contact effort on his part to try and get me another one. Needless to say, this book needs to hurry the fuck up and get here; this is going on the 4th week, and I'm becoming very impatient and a little anxious. Granted, the first exam is going to be predominantly on the movie, but that doesn't mean I can coast through the next 8 weeks on notes and commoner's luck. That being said, I'll be fixing the problem because I have no other choice BUT to. As for Music Appreciation, that test went off without a hitch and required almost NONE of the book. Isn't that ironic?

So onto work...it still sucks, but I got paid. Seems all of my warranty-getting a few Sundays and the few extra hours I've been putting in paid off a little; I made almost $300, so that was good. Unfortunately, two Rise Against CDs and a pair of New Balance running shoes later, you can subtract $145 from that, not to mention my karate tuition was due. Not that I don't have enough money to outright pay for all of this, but the ol' CapitalOne card is pretty handy in putting things off until a little bit later. SINCE I have the money to pay it off, I kinda refer to it as my "procrastinator's card." Nevertheless, I've been thinking of maybe starting to pick up just a few more hours at work, since I haven't much of anything to do with my Tuesdays. In addition, I won't be going to work next Sunday because of the concert I have to go to for my class (yawn). It's kind of like a necessary evil, but the only other option (which I may employ) is to just go in early and work the same number of hours. It's still Saturday, so we'll have to just see. I've been in a rather calculating mood recently for whatever reason.

Beyond that, I've just been doing as I do, being as I be, and putting up with idiots, assholes, and human-shaped annoyances as I go along. I still can't wait until I'm in August and 2000 miles to the east hangin' with my friends and enjoying a vacation LONG overdue. Probably the most common of phrases, I know...but they always ring true if you think about it. For the present though, I just wanna get through the next day and a half, and get my ass out jogging again to test both my ankle and my new running shoes, and the bond the two shall now share for a LONG time *stares at NB box*. I may have said this last week, but I STILL can't believe that what my Nutrition instructor said is very gradually becoming true. If I didn't, it was something to the effect of "people dread and hate walking/jogging/running at first, but once they get into it, their day is thrown totally off if they can't do it."

That all being said, my life has kinda settled itself back down, except for the scar-like wounds on my left leg from this fucking shrub outside near the parking lot. Mikey's fat ass thinks it's funny, but we'll see who's laughing when I'm pissing on shrub ashes. Beyond that, the coming week (the parts I didn't mention) will just hold school, work, some karate, some working out, and probably a trip up to the mall so Mikey can get his hair FINALLY cut (I still say he should let me cut it; free is free after all). Also I should be getting my student excess check on Friday. While I'm not exactly TOO hopeful, since last summer I only got $70, I'm looking forward to it...because if it IS a lot, I'll be probably giving most of it to Mikey for my half of the trip tickets, and putting the rest to cover my new running shoes. Easy come, easy fuckin' go, eh? Anyway, until next week everyone stay gravy and behave yourselves. Also, get ready for Father's Day! It's coming soon, though I don't know when; I can sense it!

"Stupid leg! Stop bleeding, you big pussy!"
