Title: Smoke Screen Author: kennedysbitch Rating: PG-13 Characters: Arizona, Teddy, Callie Summary: Callie isn’t the only one with scars from that day. (Set one month after the accident.)
I *just* recommended your fan fiction to someone like 12 hours ago, and thinking about it made me a little sad because you've said you have been super busy with the Big Bang thing. Glad you had a chance to write and post it. I kind of feel like they glossed over the anxiety that can come from being in a car after such a serious accident, and the guilt on Arizona's part. Other than a quick freakout when they went to take Sofia home, no one even mentioned the idea of not wanting to be in a car.
I was disappointed with how much we didn't see during Callie's recovery. It's such a long and complicated process, there is no way she would be recovered and back in the OR four months after sustaining those injuries. I always believed Arizona would have some serious issues after, too, and since Shondaland didn't give us any, this was just my little bit of input on the situation.
Thanks for the recommendation! :) I appreciate it. I'm writing FL as we speak, and am really really sorry for the summertime hiatus. Moving in June left me with no workspace and little inspiration.
Yeah, everything was so compressed in the back half of season 7. But, the good thing is that them doing that left a lot of gaps for us to fill as fan fiction writers. Gotta look for the positives.
No worries. Sometimes you just need to take a break. I would rather wait for nice, quality chapters, than have you put something out that isn't up to your usual standard because you feel obligated to post more frequently.
That's a good way to look at it, actually. There's been some good post-accident fics filling in gaps. (Though admittedly I haven't had much time to read a lot of them. >.< )
That was my biggest worry, too. I could've squeezed something out but more than likely it would've been horrible, lol. Thanks for understanding. :) This one-shot was my way of clearing the cobwebs in the canon-Calzona universe. The Big Bang fic is AU and very different from my usual stuff, so I was kinda stuck in that mode for a while.
Haha, awesome! ;) We missed so much of the recovery process, I really wanted to add something I think would be a legitimate issue for Arizona after the accident. Glad you approve.
Yeah, the writers really didn't seem to think watching your lover go through a windshield while you were behind the wheel would give a girl issues. I was disappointed in how little substance they gave the recovery process for both Callie and Arizona.
Thanks for reading and commenting, I'm happy you enjoyed it. :)
Me too. Everything happening in one episode was kinda lame, IMO. Watching your girlfriend go through the windshield while you were driving would give anyone issues.
