I've been back from holiday for a while now, and work is even more insane than when I left...

But there's great news today, because springtime_gen is up for another round, and sign-ups are now open until 27 January. Which has me hopping excited, yay!

If you're into gen fic, sign up here. The more the merrier ( Read more... )

Re springtime_gen: why is it that everyone seems to include a laundry list of shipfic-related things under the "do not want" heading? IT'S GEN. THE BASIC IDEA OF THE THING IS TO WRITE SOMETHING DIFFERENT FROM THIS.

Perhaps I should include something equally silly: "Please no mention of sawdust, cichlids, the Pony Express, wild rosemary, the later works of Ed McBain (anything pre-1970 is OK), or the citric acid cycle."

*grin*

I assume it's those who're writing a lot for ship/smutfests as well, and work from the same signup template. Admittedly, I do that too, I'm just anal about tweaking it for different challenges. It's faster just to leave things in.

Or they're very, very serious about what they don't like, and want to make sure there's not even hints of anything like it in their fic?

By the way, I strongly disapprove of your dismissal of wild rosemary, but thank you for teaching me a new word (and species) with 'cichlids' :).

Aaaand the latest requests seem to be "Death Eaters as loveable fluffy bunnies, please!" This is going to be interesting. :)

Ah, those actually look interesting from my eversoslightly skewed pov (this being gen, I doubt anyone will really go for downright fluffiness)...

Pic for you?

I suspect I'd be Ravenclaw by default: not brave enough for Gryffindor, not ambitious enough for Slytherin, and very definitely not hard-working enough for Hufflepuff, but with a reasonable amount of brains.
