Busy Friday and Book Query
Had a rather good if stressful first day of the bank holiday weekend. Went on a trip to hell clothes shopping, and returned with a new pair of jeans and four books. Well, there have to be perks!
Was also sorely tempted to pick up the first book of Jim Butcher's Dresden Files which has had a few honourable mentions on my flist (jaelle_n_gilla?), mostly in connection with the author's stance on fanfic. Are the *books* good too? I'm a bit hesitant because it feels like an Anita Blake world clone (y'know, AU of the real world shared with supernatural species/magic), and I'm getting a bit impatient with those because there are so many, and most of them are crap...
No work apart from a do in the evening where I did translation, and got quite a nice Italian dinner for my pains. It went well enough, but sometimes the fact that I can use certain terminology in English all day long, and then flounder to come up with the corresponding in German is driving me nuts. Shouldn't it be the other way round?!?
Anyway, came home, made coffee and finished my first acquisition. And seriously, should I feel sore from *shopping*? Tsk!
