At one point in Altec's history, they made home audio speakers. Good ones. $10,000 ones. Like the 650. It had 6 drivers: 1 10", 1 8", 2 6.5", and two 3/4" dome tweeters, all individually driven by their own amplifier. So each driver was individually actively tuned. They were pretty great, it seems. So great, that Altec included a lifetime warranty on them.
Someone made a call for support last week. Seems they need all the woofers replaced as the cone material is deteriorating. So now our sustaining engineering has to try and dig up the specs for the drivers and try to get our HK office to match them exactly.
Lifetime warranties are bad.
