So three new teachers arrived at our school last night. They have been in training since Monday, and they arrived at our school Friday evening in time for them to go out to dinner with the owner. After the rest of us finished our classes we all went out for Korean bbq and soju.
They are a really great bunch, there are two aussies and one american. And I had a great time chatting with them all and eating and drinking with them too. I had left my laptop at one of the aussie girls' places because I didn't want to carry it around with me, and we had organised that I would pick it up on my way to work today.
This morning I got a call. A rather unexpected call. It was from the new aussie who was baby-sitting my laptop. She wanted to know what she should do with my laptop because in approximately half-an-hour she was going to be picked up by men in masks and put in a little white van and transported off to quarantine.
Bugger!
As it seems all our three new teachers (due to start classes on Monday) were going to be in quarantine for a week I quickly grabbed all my books and magazines and ran over to her place so that she would have some reading material. I sat with her and chatted until the van arrived (because well, hey, we had hung out enough last night) and then hid, because I just didn't want to deal with them telling me I was an idiot :P
So yeah... I'm now in self-imposed exile until we find out if our three teachers were infected. Last I heard, 5 out of the 70 trainee teachers were confirmed. Although, according to the news it is only 2 confirmed and 3 questionable. Our newbies are still in good health, but we have to wait another day or so to find out more.
So yeah. There you have. Those bloody pigs in Mexico are screwing with my social life, and I'm not a fan!!
