God I wish I'd been a lady sometime during the 1920s-1950s. I would also like to remain a 20 something lady for all that time. A wealthy one too who could afford to buy lots of hats, dresses and shoes and records, yes. ahhh

I *love* the fashion of the 20's and 30's. I love the hair, the dresses... everything. OMG, and those hats and long gloves! I'm a fan of book and TV series "The Forsyte Saga" which is set in this period. It's like the Bold and the Beautiful of the 1900-1920's, lots of rich people and affairs. There's this great scene where Fleur gets the attention of a cute guy by deliberately dropping her glove when walking past him. He picks it up and runs after her, asks if it belongs to her, she looks at the glove and reads out her name which is embroidered on it ("Fleur Forsyte. It's mine all right!"), he introduces himself and it's all love from there. Who needs to go to a bar when you can just drop a glove? They could flirt with style in those days. :P
I believe the modern day equivalent would be to drop a martini in his lap and then offer to take him home and do his laundry....
and on that note I've just realised it's cheap cocktails at luxe tonight... hmmmm
Alternatively, you can do as Jane does on 'Coupling' and drop your phone into their bag. Then, you call your phone after and they answer, you then organise to meet and collect your phone. Brilliant! 1920s - gloves, 2000s - phones. Ahhh technology
